David Harvey gave this talk at MIT last week on the economic crisis and possible responses to it. He points out the global financial crisis has been transformed into a localized unemployment crisis. The financial class has already returned to pre-crisis profit while workers are facing layoffs, cuts in benefits from private employers and the state, attacks on the basic human right to organize, all while paying for the bailout of the capitalist class. Harvey makes a case for an “anti-wall street” anti-capitalist political movement. The first half of the video has Harvey’s talk and the second half is an interesting Q&A.
